Dr. Alistair Graeme Prince

Congratulations to Dr. Ali Bloke who is now officially an expert in material science type things (especially magnetic fridges and bendy metals). After a two-hour grilling yesterday morning for his viva the panel awarded him his PhD, grade B, which is apparently quite good.

The only thing left to say is...
Oh Ali Blooooooke
Dr Ali Ali Bloooooke
Dr Ali Ali Blooooke
Dr Ali Ali Bloooooke!

Reckon I would have gone for a PhD with Ali's surname...classic...from now on just call me Dr Prince - has a nice ring to it.

Well done Al! Congratulations, sir. What melody am I meant to use for your ditty, Andy?

You're quite right I really should have clarified. It's a difficult one to explain though...

It's a football chant. Manchester United fans used to sing it when Andy Cole was playing there (Ohhh Annnndy Cooooole, Andy Andy Andy Coooooole)

Bristol City fans used to sing it for Tony Thorpe (Ohhh Toooony Thooooorpe, Tony Tony Tony Thoooooorpe)

Essentially it only works for players with a two-syllable Christian name, and one-syllable surname. Perhaps Spurs fans sing it for Robbie Keane. (Oh Roooobbie Keeeeeeeane, Robbie Robbie Robbie Keeeeeeeeane)

I'm pretty certain that's the only context that I’ve ever heard the ditty. Know the one?

Well, we kind of had a combined belated celebration for Ali's PhD and Ben's birthday on Saturday when we went for a slap-up curry down Town (one of the many bonuses of H having left the country ;)

But hey, we don't really need an excuse for drinks at the TF...

The in-flight meal was curry. H actually had a taste and said it was quite nice!!

And then mentioned something about it missing cumin. Bloody cumin is the bain of my culinary life.
